Ingredients

Scale

Seafood and Marinade

  • 12 large shrimp, cleaned, shelled, and deveined
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika

Coating and Frying

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp canola oil

Bread and Toppings

  • 1 loaf crusty bread
  • 8 oz jumbo lump crab meat
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (divided)
  • 1 tsp minced garlic (divided for butter and sauce)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese (plus extra for garnish)
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preparation: Clean, shell, and devein the shrimp. In a bowl, toss shrimp with egg white and seasoning mixture of garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and paprika to coat well. Set aside to marinate for at least 1 hour for maximum flavor absorption.
  2. Make Alfredo Sauce: In a medium skillet, melt half of the butter over medium heat and sauté minced garlic until fragrant but not browned. Slowly whisk in the heavy cream and season with salt and pepper. Stir in Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth, creamy, and thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Prepare Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, combine the remaining melted butter with minced garlic and a pinch of salt. This will be brushed on the bread for deep garlic flavor.
  4. Coat and Fry Shrimp: Dredge the marinated shrimp in all-purpose flour, shaking off any excess to ensure a light, even coating. Heat canola oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat and fry the shrimp until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 2-3 minutes. Remove shrimp and drain on paper towels.
  5. Prepare the Bread Base: Slice the crusty loaf of bread in half lengthwise. Brush both halves generously with the garlic butter mixture. Toast lightly in the oven to crisp the bread slightly and enhance the garlic butter flavor.
  6. Assemble the Garlic Bread: Spread the prepared Alfredo sauce evenly over the toasted bread halves. Sprinkle one-third of the mozzarella cheese on top. Arrange fried shrimp and jumbo lump crab meat evenly over the sauce. Top with remaining mozzarella cheese to create a gooey, cheesy finish.
  7. Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the assembled bread on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese has melted fully and is bubbly and golden.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Remove garlic bread from the oven. Sprinkle freshly grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, and red pepper flakes on top to add a fresh, zesty finish. Serve warm and enjoy immediately for best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Use fresh jumbo lump crab meat for the best flavor and texture.
  • Marinating the shrimp in egg white and seasonings helps the coating stick better and improves flavor absorption.
  • If preferred, substitute canola oil with vegetable or peanut oil for frying.
  • For extra crunch, toast the bread slightly before assembly.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes based on desired spice level.
  • Serving this garlic bread fresh out of the oven ensures the best combination of crispy, creamy, and gooey textures.
