Description
A delicious and easy-to-make Monte Cristo Croissant recipe featuring flaky crescent roll dough filled with ham, turkey, and Muenster cheese, baked to golden perfection and served with raspberry jam and a dusting of powdered sugar. Perfect for a savory breakfast or a tasty snack.
Ingredients
Scale
Croissant Dough
- 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
Filling
- 1/4 pound honey ham, thinly sliced
- 1/4 pound oven-roasted turkey, thinly sliced
- 4 slices Muenster cheese, sliced in half to create 8 small slices
Condiments & Garnish
- 8 teaspoons seedless raspberry jam
- 1 teaspoon powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a baking sheet with non-stick spray to prevent the croissants from sticking during baking.
- Prepare the Dough: On a clean, flat work surface, unravel the crescent roll dough and separate it into 8 individual triangles. Lay these triangles out flat on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them evenly.
- Add Fillings and Roll: On each dough triangle, place one slice of honey ham, one slice of oven-roasted turkey, and one half slice of Muenster cheese. Carefully roll each triangle up into a crescent shape, starting from the wide end and rolling toward the pointed tip, encasing the filling inside.
- Bake the Croissants: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 15 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and cooked through, indicating the dough is fully baked and the cheese melted.
- Rest and Serve: Remove the croissants from the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes. Serve warm with 1 teaspoon of raspberry jam on the side for each croissant and a light dusting of powdered sugar on top for a perfect Monte Cristo flavor balance.
Notes
- For a crispier crust, you can brush the croissants lightly with melted butter before baking.
- Feel free to substitute Muenster cheese with Swiss or Gruyere for a different flavor profile.
- Adjust the amount of raspberry jam according to your sweetness preference.
- These croissants are best served warm but can be reheated in the oven for a few minutes if needed.
