Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
Wet Ingredients
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
Glaze
- Powdered sugar (quantity to preference for glaze)
- Cocoa powder (quantity to preference for glaze)
- Milk (quantity to preference for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a donut pan to prevent sticking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, and granulated sugar until well combined.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine the milk, vegetable oil, and eggs. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and homogenous.
- Combine Wet and Dry: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined, taking care not to overmix to keep the donuts light and tender.
- Fill the Donut Pan: Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full to allow room for rising.
- Bake the Donuts: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the donuts comes out clean.
- Cool the Donuts: Remove the donuts from the oven and let them cool slightly in the pan before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and milk. Adjust the quantities to achieve the desired drizzle consistency.
- Glaze the Donuts: Drizzle the glaze over the cooled donuts evenly. Allow the glaze to set slightly before serving.
Notes
- Do not overmix the batter to keep donuts light and fluffy.
- If you don’t have a donut pan, use a muffin pan for mini donut muffins with slightly adjusted baking time.
- The glaze consistency can be made thicker or thinner by adjusting the amount of milk.
- Store donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
- For a richer chocolate flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
