Description

A quick and flavorful Honey Garlic Chicken Bites recipe featuring tender chicken pieces glazed in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce, perfect served over steamed rice for a delicious weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Sauce

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water

Garnish and Serving

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Cooked rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Cook Chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season 2 pounds of bite-sized chicken breast pieces with salt and black pepper to taste. Cook the chicken pieces until they are golden brown and fully cooked through, about 8 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Make Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together ¼ cup honey, 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce, 1 tablespoon rice vinegar, 1 teaspoon onion powder, and ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes until well combined.
  3. Cook Garlic and Thicken Sauce: Reduce the heat of the same skillet to medium and add 3 cloves of minced garlic. Cook the garlic until fragrant, approximately 1 minute. Pour the honey mixture into the skillet and bring it to a simmer. In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 2 tablespoons water to create a slurry. Pour the slurry into the skillet, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens, about 2 minutes.
  4. Glaze Chicken: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and toss to coat all pieces evenly with the thickened honey garlic sauce. Cook for another 2 minutes until the chicken is heated through and well glazed.
  5. Serve: Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve the honey garlic chicken bites over cooked rice for a complete meal.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add more red pepper flakes.
  • You can substitute chicken thighs for a juicier option.
  • Serve with steamed vegetables for a balanced meal.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce to control salt levels.
  • Ensure chicken pieces are cut evenly for uniform cooking.
