Ingredients
Scale
Bread
- 1 large round sourdough bread loaf
Garlic Herb Butter
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Filling
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked spinach (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it is ready for baking the stuffed bread.
- Prepare Bread: Slice the top off the sourdough bread loaf carefully and set it aside; this will be used as the lid later.
- Hollow Bread: Carefully hollow out the inside of the bread, leaving about 1 inch thick walls around the edges to form a bread bowl suitable for stuffing.
- Make Herb Butter: In a bowl, combine the melted butter with minced garlic, chopped parsley, thyme, rosemary, salt, and black pepper to create a fragrant garlic herb butter mixture.
- Brush Bread: Generously brush the garlic herb butter inside the hollowed-out bread bowl and on the inside of the bread lid to infuse flavor throughout.
- Add Filling: Layer the shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, and cooked spinach (if using) evenly inside the hollowed bread to create a rich and cheesy filling.
- Replace Lid: Place the bread lid back on top of the stuffed loaf to enclose the filling.
- Wrap Bread: Wrap the entire loaf tightly in aluminum foil to keep moisture in during baking and place it on a baking sheet for stability.
- Bake Covered: Bake the wrapped bread in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the bread crust becomes crispy and the cheese inside is melted and gooey.
- Finish Baking: Remove the foil carefully and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes to achieve a golden-brown and slightly crisp top crust.
Notes
- Optional cooked spinach can be added for extra nutrition and flavor.
- Ensure the bread walls are thick enough so the bread holds the filling without collapsing.
- Use fresh herbs for the best aroma and taste.
- Serve warm for a gooey and flavorful experience.
- Leftover stuffed bread can be reheated wrapped in foil to maintain moisture.
