Description

This Crispy Beef Rice Bowl features tender, marinated beef fried to golden perfection and served over fluffy jasmine rice. Infused with garlic, ginger, and sesame flavors, this dish is a quick and satisfying meal perfect for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Marinade

  • 300 grams (10.5 oz) thinly sliced beef (flank steak or sirloin)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

Rice

  • 1 cup jasmine rice
  • Water (amount as per rice cooker or saucepan instructions)
  • Pinch of salt

For Cooking and Garnish

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cornstarch or flour for dusting beef

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced beef with soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Mix well and let it marinate for about 30 minutes to infuse the flavors.
  2. Cook the Jasmine Rice: Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch. In a saucepan, combine the rinsed rice with the appropriate amount of water and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer and cover. Cook for about 15 minutes or until the rice is tender and water is absorbed.
  3. Prepare the Beef for Frying: Lightly dust the marinated beef slices with cornstarch or flour to create a crispy coating when fried.
  4. Fry the Beef: Heat the sesame oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef slices in a single layer and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are browned and crispy on the edges.
  5. Assemble the Bowl: Fluff the cooked jasmine rice with a fork and divide it into serving bowls. Top with the crispy beef slices, then garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a splash of rice vinegar or a drizzle of chili oil to the finished dish.
  • Use thinly sliced beef to ensure quick cooking and a tender texture.
  • Adjust the amount of soy sauce in the marinade according to your salt preference.
  • Serve with steamed or sautéed vegetables for a complete meal.
