Ingredients
Scale
Chicken and Soup
- 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts, diced into 1-inch pieces
- 2 cans (10.75 ounces each) condensed cream of chicken soup
- 1/4 cup milk
Stuffing
- 2 boxes (6 ounces each) Stove Top Chicken Stuffing mix
- 1 ½ cups chicken broth
Instructions
- Preheat and prepare dish: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Prepare chicken: Cut the boneless skinless chicken breasts into 1-inch pieces for even cooking. Arrange the chicken pieces evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Season lightly with salt and pepper to taste.
- Mix soup and milk: In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the two cans of condensed cream of chicken soup and 1/4 cup of milk until smooth. Pour this creamy mixture evenly over the chicken in the baking dish.
- Add stuffing: Sprinkle the dry stuffing mixes evenly over the top of the soup-covered chicken, spreading it out so it covers all areas.
- Pour broth: Carefully pour 1 ½ cups of chicken broth over the stuffing mix, ensuring that as much of the stuffing as possible is moistened from the broth for optimal texture after baking.
- Bake covered: Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked through (reaching an internal temperature of 165°F) and the stuffing is tender.
- Rest and serve: Remove the dish from the oven and let it stand, covered, for 10 minutes to allow flavors to meld and cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your comforting chicken and stuffing bake!
Notes
- You can substitute cream of mushroom or celery soup for a different flavor variation.
- For a crunchier topping, uncover the dish during the last 5-10 minutes of baking.
- Use low-sodium chicken broth to control salt content if preferred.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated within 3 days.
- Ensure chicken is cooked thoroughly to avoid any risk of foodborne illness.
