Description

A quick and healthy whole-wheat pasta dish tossed with fresh cherry tomatoes, aromatic garlic, and fragrant basil, finished with a drizzle of olive oil. Perfect for a nutritious and flavorful meal ready in just 25 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Pasta

  • 8 oz whole-wheat pasta

Vegetables & Herbs

  • 2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Seasonings & Oil

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the whole-wheat pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat the oil: In a large pan over medium heat, warm the olive oil until shimmering.
  3. Sauté garlic: Add the minced garlic to the pan and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant but not browned.
  4. Cook tomatoes: Add the halved cherry tomatoes to the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes until they begin to soften and release their juices.
  5. Combine pasta and sauce: Add the drained pasta to the pan with the tomatoes and garlic and toss well to combine and heat through.
  6. Add basil and season: Stir in the chopped basil, then season with salt and black pepper to taste, tossing everything evenly.
  7. Serve: Transfer the pasta to serving plates and enjoy warm for a fresh and wholesome meal.

Notes

  • Use whole-wheat pasta for added fiber and a nutty flavor.
  • Fresh basil can be substituted with dried basil but add less as dried herbs are more concentrated.
  • Adjust salt and pepper according to your taste preference.
  • This dish can be complemented with grated Parmesan cheese or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for extra flavor.
  • For a vegan option, avoid adding cheese toppings.
