A classic comfort food, Tuna Melt Grilled Sandwiches feature a creamy tuna salad with melted cheese, toasted between golden, buttery slices of bread.

- 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna, drained
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped red onion
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
- 8 slices bread (sourdough or sandwich bread)
- 4 tablespoons butter, softened
- 4 slices cheddar or Swiss cheese
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, mix the tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, celery, red onion, salt, pepper, and lemon juice until well combined.
- Lay out the bread slices and spread butter on one side of each slice.
- Flip 4 of the slices over (buttered side down) and top each with tuna mixture and a slice of cheese.
- Top with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side up.
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Place the sandwiches on the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from heat, slice in half, and serve warm.
Notes
- Use your favorite cheese like provolone or mozzarella for variation.
- Add tomato slices for extra flavor.
- Make it open-faced and broil for a quick alternative method.
