Description

These rich, fudgy homemade brownies are easy to make and taste far better than any boxed mix. Perfectly chewy with a deep chocolate flavor.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup (90g) semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  3. Beat in the cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder until well combined.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips if using.
  5. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
  6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Allow to cool in the pan before slicing into squares and serving.

Notes

  • For extra fudgy brownies, slightly underbake them.
  • Add nuts or swirl in peanut butter for variation.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
