These rich, fudgy homemade brownies are easy to make and taste far better than any boxed mix. Perfectly chewy with a deep chocolate flavor.

- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup (90g) semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
- Beat in the cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder until well combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips if using.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow to cool in the pan before slicing into squares and serving.
Notes
- For extra fudgy brownies, slightly underbake them.
- Add nuts or swirl in peanut butter for variation.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
