A hearty, flavorful chili made with ground beef, beans, and a perfect blend of spices. This classic comfort food is easy to make and perfect for weeknight dinners or game day gatherings.

- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (15-ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup beef broth
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add diced onion and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in garlic and cook for another 1 minute.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
- Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, cayenne, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1 minute to toast the spices.
- Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, kidney beans, pinto beans, and beef broth. Stir to combine.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 30–45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary. Serve hot with your favorite toppings.
Notes
- For a thicker chili, simmer longer or mash some of the beans.
- Top with shredded cheese, sour cream, or chopped green onions for extra flavor.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
