Description

Tex-Mex Hot Dogs are a fun and flavorful twist on the classic hot dog, topped with zesty ingredients like avocado, salsa, jalapeños, and cheese for a south-of-the-border flair.

  • 4 beef hot dogs
  • 4 hot dog buns
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • 1 ripe avocado, diced
  • 1/4 cup pickled jalapeños, sliced
  • 1/4 cup chopped red onion
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon sour cream (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill or a grill pan over medium heat.
  2. Lightly brush the hot dogs with olive oil and grill for 5–7 minutes, turning occasionally, until heated through and slightly charred.
  3. Warm the hot dog buns on the grill for 1–2 minutes until lightly toasted.
  4. Place grilled hot dogs into the buns.
  5. Top each hot dog with shredded cheddar cheese while the dogs are hot so the cheese can melt slightly.
  6. Spoon salsa over each hot dog, then add diced avocado, pickled jalapeños, and chopped red onion.
  7. Garnish with chopped cilantro and a drizzle of sour cream if using.
