Description

A delicious and hearty meatloaf topped with a sweet and tangy brown sugar glaze, perfect for a comforting family dinner.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 3/4 cup finely crushed saltine cracker crumbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 5×9 inch loaf pan.
  2. Press the brown sugar into the bottom of the prepared loaf pan and spread the ketchup and Worcestershire sauce over the sugar.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, milk, eggs, salt, pepper, onion, ground ginger, and cracker crumbs. Mix well and shape into a loaf.
  4. Place the meatloaf into the loaf pan on top of the glaze.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour or until juices run clear and meat is cooked through.
  6. Let stand for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute crackers with breadcrumbs if desired.
  • For extra moisture, consider adding 1/4 cup grated carrot to the meat mixture.
  • Leftovers make excellent meatloaf sandwiches.
