- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 3/4 cup finely crushed saltine cracker crumbs
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 5×9 inch loaf pan.
- Press the brown sugar into the bottom of the prepared loaf pan and spread the ketchup and Worcestershire sauce over the sugar.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, milk, eggs, salt, pepper, onion, ground ginger, and cracker crumbs. Mix well and shape into a loaf.
- Place the meatloaf into the loaf pan on top of the glaze.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour or until juices run clear and meat is cooked through.
- Let stand for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- You can substitute crackers with breadcrumbs if desired.
- For extra moisture, consider adding 1/4 cup grated carrot to the meat mixture.
- Leftovers make excellent meatloaf sandwiches.
