Description

A rich and flavorful beef brisket slow-cooked to perfection, combining the deep sweetness of caramelized onions with the savory goodness of tender, pulled beef.


Ingredients

  • 34 lbs beef brisket
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. Season the brisket with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
  3. In a large Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on both sides until browned. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pot, add onions and cook until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
  5. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
  6. Stir in brown sugar, beef broth, balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce.
  7. Return brisket to the pot, cover with lid or foil, and transfer to oven.
  8. Bake for 3.5 to 4 hours, or until beef is tender and easily shredded.
  9. Remove brisket, shred with forks, and mix with the sauce before serving.

Notes

  • Can be made a day ahead and reheated for even better flavor.
  • Great served on sandwich buns, over mashed potatoes, or with roasted vegetables.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce to control salt levels.
