A rich and flavorful beef brisket slow-cooked to perfection, combining the deep sweetness of caramelized onions with the savory goodness of tender, pulled beef.

- 3–4 lbs beef brisket
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C).
- Season the brisket with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
- In a large Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on both sides until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pot, add onions and cook until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for another minute.
- Stir in brown sugar, beef broth, balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Return brisket to the pot, cover with lid or foil, and transfer to oven.
- Bake for 3.5 to 4 hours, or until beef is tender and easily shredded.
- Remove brisket, shred with forks, and mix with the sauce before serving.
Notes
- Can be made a day ahead and reheated for even better flavor.
- Great served on sandwich buns, over mashed potatoes, or with roasted vegetables.
- Use low-sodium soy sauce to control salt levels.
