Description

Sweet and Spicy Honey Pepper Chicken is a flavorful dish featuring crispy chicken tossed in a sticky, sweet, and mildly spicy honey pepper sauce. Perfect for dinner or entertaining guests.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sriracha or chili sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry)
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish (optional)
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper. Dredge chicken pieces in the mixture.
  2. Dip each piece of chicken into the beaten eggs, then coat again in the flour mixture.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium-high heat. Fry chicken in batches until golden and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.
  4. In a saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sriracha, black pepper, garlic, and ginger. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  5. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
  6. Add the fried chicken to the sauce and toss to coat evenly.
  7. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Adjust sriracha amount based on your spice preference.
  • For a healthier version, bake or air fry the chicken instead of deep frying.
  • Great served over steamed rice or noodles.
