Description

A flavorful and comforting Sweet & Spicy Ground Turkey & Broccoli Bowl that’s perfect for a quick weeknight dinner. This recipe combines lean ground turkey with a tangy chili-honey sauce, tender steamed broccoli, and fluffy brown rice to create a balanced meal with just the right amount of heat and sweetness.

Ingredients

Scale

Protein & Vegetables

  • 1 lb ground turkey (lean or extra lean)
  • 12 oz broccoli florets, cut into bite-size pieces

Sauce

  • 1/3 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 to 4 teaspoons Sriracha (adjust based on heat preference)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger

Other Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cups cooked brown rice (or rice of your choice)
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Green onions, sliced, for garnish
  • Extra Sriracha sauce, for serving (optional)
  • Extra sweet chili sauce, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ground Turkey: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground turkey and cook, stirring frequently, until it is fully cooked and no longer pink, about 6-8 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Sauce: While the turkey is cooking, whisk together the sweet chili sauce, honey, Sriracha, soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, garlic powder, and freshly grated ginger in a glass measuring cup or bowl until well combined.
  3. Cook the Turkey with Sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the cooked turkey in the skillet. Reduce heat to medium and simmer the mixture until the sauce thickens slightly, coating the turkey well. Taste and season with salt if needed.
  4. Steam the Broccoli: Steam the broccoli florets until they are just tender but still crisp, about 4-5 minutes. Avoid overcooking to maintain their bright color and nutrients.
  5. Assemble the Bowls: Evenly divide the cooked brown rice among four bowls. Top each with an equal portion of the sweet and spicy ground turkey mixture, followed by the steamed broccoli.
  6. Garnish: Sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced green onions over each bowl. Add extra sweet chili sauce and/or Sriracha to taste for additional flavor and spice, if desired.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of Sriracha depending on your heat preference, starting with 2 teaspoons and adding up to 4 for more spice.
  • Use lean or extra lean ground turkey to keep the dish lower in fat.
  • Steaming broccoli just until tender helps retain nutrients and a satisfying crunch.
  • Brown rice adds fiber and a nutty flavor, but you can substitute with white rice or quinoa if preferred.
  • Leftovers keep well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • This dish can be easily doubled for meal prepping.
