- 10 fresh strawberries
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- Skewers or bamboo sticks
Instructions
- Wash and thoroughly dry the strawberries. Remove stems if desired.
- Insert each strawberry onto a skewer.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Heat over medium heat without stirring until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
- Quickly dip each skewered strawberry into the syrup, fully coating it.
- Hold the skewer over the pot to let excess syrup drip off, then place on a parchment-lined tray to cool and harden.
- Allow the tanghulu to sit at room temperature until the coating is fully set.
Notes
- Ensure strawberries are completely dry before coating to prevent syrup from seizing.
- Use a candy thermometer for accurate syrup temperature.
- Work quickly as the syrup hardens fast.
