- 1 loaf French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar (for garnish)
- Maple syrup (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and spread half of the bread cubes in the bottom.
- Sprinkle half of the sliced strawberries over the bread.
- In a bowl, beat cream cheese and granulated sugar until smooth. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture over the strawberries and bread.
- Top with remaining bread cubes and strawberries.
- In another bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Pour evenly over the casserole.
- Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight or for at least 4 hours.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake covered for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake an additional 20-25 minutes until golden and set.
- Let rest for 10 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with maple syrup if desired.

- Use day-old bread for best texture.
- Substitute strawberries with mixed berries for variation.
- Casserole can be assembled the night before for easy morning preparation.
