Description

A quick and flavorful stir-fry dish combining tender green cabbage and fluffy scrambled eggs, enhanced with garlic, soy sauce, and a hint of sesame oil. Perfect as a light main or a tasty side, this easy Asian-inspired recipe comes together in just 20 minutes for a nutritious, satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • ½ head green cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground white or black pepper

Garnish

  • Sliced green onions or sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Beat the eggs: In a small bowl, beat the eggs with a pinch of salt and set aside to prepare for scrambling.
  2. Scramble the eggs: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Pour in the beaten eggs and scramble gently until just cooked through. Remove the eggs from the pan and set aside.
  3. Stir-fry garlic and cabbage: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil to the pan and stir-fry the minced garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the sliced cabbage and stir-fry for 4 to 6 minutes, stirring frequently, until the cabbage is softened but still retains a slight crispness.
  4. Combine and season: Return the cooked scrambled eggs to the pan with the cabbage. Add the soy sauce, optional sesame oil, salt, and ground pepper. Stir everything together for an additional 1 to 2 minutes until all ingredients are well combined and heated through.
  5. Garnish and serve: Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions or sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot as a nutritious side dish or a light main course.

Notes

  • This dish can be enjoyed on its own or served over steamed rice for a more filling meal.
  • Add sliced carrots, mushrooms, or cooked noodles to increase the variety and heartiness of the stir-fry.
  • Use gluten-free soy sauce to make this recipe gluten-free.
  • For a milder garlic flavor, reduce the amount of garlic or sauté it until lightly golden.
