- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
- Red, white, and blue sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using); beat until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized dough balls and roll them in the red, white, and blue sprinkles.
- Place dough balls 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes or until edges are just starting to turn golden.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For best results, do not overbake; cookies will continue to firm up as they cool.
- You can use gel food coloring in the dough for extra patriotic flair.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
