Description

Festive and colorful cookies perfect for patriotic celebrations like the 4th of July, decorated with red, white, and blue sprinkles.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • Red, white, and blue sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using); beat until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized dough balls and roll them in the red, white, and blue sprinkles.
  7. Place dough balls 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until edges are just starting to turn golden.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For best results, do not overbake; cookies will continue to firm up as they cool.
  • You can use gel food coloring in the dough for extra patriotic flair.
