- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
- Red, white, and blue sprinkles

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8 inch baking pan or line with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
- Beat in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until fully combined.
- Stir in chocolate chips if using.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let the brownies cool completely in the pan.
- Top with red, white, and blue sprinkles and star-shaped candies.
- Cut into squares and serve.
