Description

Spooky Spider Deviled Eggs are a fun and festive Halloween appetizer featuring classic deviled eggs creatively topped with olive ‘spiders.’ These creamy, savory bites are perfect for parties and kid-friendly gatherings, combining easy-to-make deviled eggs with a fun twist to delight guests.

Ingredients

Scale

Eggs and Filling

  • 6 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Spider Decoration

  • 6–8 black olives (pitted)
  • Optional: paprika for garnish

Instructions

  1. Boil the Eggs: Place eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes. Transfer eggs to a bowl of ice water and let cool for 5 minutes. Peel the eggs and slice them in half lengthwise.
  2. Prepare the Filling: Remove yolks from the egg halves and place them into a bowl. Mash with a fork, then mix in mayonnaise, yellow mustard, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  3. Fill the Egg Whites: Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture back into the hollowed egg white halves evenly.
  4. Create the Olive Spiders: Cut each black olive in half. Use one half for the spider’s body by placing it on top of the yolk filling. Slice the other olive halves into 6–8 thin slivers to form spider legs. Arrange 3–4 legs on each side of the olive body carefully.
  5. Optional Garnish and Serving: Lightly dust the filled eggs with paprika for extra color and a festive touch. Serve the deviled eggs chilled for best flavor and presentation.

Notes

  • Prepare the eggs and filling up to one day ahead and store separately; assemble the olive spiders just before serving to maintain freshness.
  • For a colorful twist, use purple or green olives instead of black olives for the spider bodies.
  • Natural food coloring can be added to the yolk mixture for a fun, vibrant look to match your Halloween theme.
