Description

Crispy, golden pastries filled with a flavorful spiced potato and green pea mixture, perfect as an appetizer or snack.


Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons grated ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 medium potatoes, boiled, peeled, and mashed
  • 1 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
  • 12 samosa wrappers or spring roll pastry sheets
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle.
  2. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add ginger and garlic, cook for another minute.
  4. Stir in the mashed potatoes and peas. Mix well.
  5. Add coriander, cumin, garam masala, turmeric, chili powder, and salt. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add lemon juice and chopped cilantro. Mix and let the filling cool.
  7. Place a wrapper on a clean surface, fill with 1-2 tablespoons of the potato mixture, and fold into a triangle. Seal the edges with water.
  8. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry samosas in batches until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with chutney.

Notes

  • You can bake or air fry the samosas for a healthier version.
  • Add chopped green chilies for extra heat.
  • Make ahead and freeze uncooked samosas for later use.
