Description

A flavorful Chinese stir-fry dish featuring tender beef strips cooked with bell peppers and onions in a savory sauce.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the sliced flank steak with soy sauce, cornstarch, and a pinch of pepper. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Sear the steak in batches until browned, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the skillet. Sauté garlic and ginger for 30 seconds.
  4. Add the onions and bell peppers. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp.
  5. Return the steak to the skillet. Stir in oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, beef broth, and rice vinegar.
  6. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring to coat the meat and vegetables evenly.
  7. Drizzle with sesame oil before serving. Serve hot with steamed rice.

Notes

  • Flank steak can be substituted with sirloin or skirt steak.
  • For extra heat, add sliced chili peppers or a dash of chili sauce.
  • Prep all ingredients before you start cooking for quick stir-frying.
