A flavorful Chinese stir-fry dish featuring tender beef strips cooked with bell peppers and onions in a savory sauce.

- 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
- 1/4 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, toss the sliced flank steak with soy sauce, cornstarch, and a pinch of pepper. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Sear the steak in batches until browned, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the skillet. Sauté garlic and ginger for 30 seconds.
- Add the onions and bell peppers. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp.
- Return the steak to the skillet. Stir in oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, beef broth, and rice vinegar.
- Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring to coat the meat and vegetables evenly.
- Drizzle with sesame oil before serving. Serve hot with steamed rice.
Notes
- Flank steak can be substituted with sirloin or skirt steak.
- For extra heat, add sliced chili peppers or a dash of chili sauce.
- Prep all ingredients before you start cooking for quick stir-frying.
