Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth (or vegetable broth for vegetarian)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons capers, drained
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
  3. Whisk in the flour and cook for another minute to form a roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in the broth, ensuring no lumps form.
  5. Stir in the lemon juice, lemon zest, and capers.
  6. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Remove from heat and stir in chopped parsley if using.
