Description

A savory and indulgent seafood lasagna featuring layers of tender lasagna noodles, succulent shrimp, delicate crab meat, creamy ricotta, and melted mozzarella cheeses, all nestled in a rich marinara sauce. Perfect for seafood lovers looking for a comforting and elegant meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Seafood Mixture

  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 pound crab meat
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Cheese and Sauces

  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 cups marinara sauce

Pasta

  • 9 lasagna noodles

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the lasagna.
  2. Cook Lasagna Noodles: Boil the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  3. Sauté Garlic and Shrimp: Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, then add shrimp and cook until they turn pink.
  4. Add Crab and Season: Stir in the crab meat along with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well and cook for an additional 2 minutes until combined and heated through.
  5. Layer Sauce: Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce evenly on the bottom of a baking dish.
  6. First Layer of Noodles: Arrange 3 cooked lasagna noodles over the marinara sauce layer.
  7. Add Ricotta and Seafood: Spread half of the ricotta cheese over the noodles, then evenly distribute half of the seafood mixture on top, followed by a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese.
  8. Repeat Layers: Repeat the layering process with another 3 noodles, the remaining ricotta cheese, the rest of the seafood mixture, and mozzarella cheese.
  9. Top Layers: Finish by placing the last 3 noodles on top, spreading the remaining marinara sauce, then sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese over the surface.
  10. Bake Covered: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes to allow flavors to meld and the cheese to melt.
  11. Uncover and Finish Baking: Remove the foil and continue baking for another 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown on top.

Notes

  • For best results, reserve some pasta water when boiling noodles to loosen the sauce if needed during layering.
  • To avoid overcooked seafood, do not cook shrimp and crab for too long when sautéing.
  • Allow the lasagna to rest for 10 minutes after baking before slicing to help it set and hold together.
  • Use fresh Parmesan cheese for a more flavorful top layer.
  • You can substitute crab meat with imitation crab for a budget-friendly option.
