Description

Salmon Croquettes are crispy, golden patties made with flaked salmon, breadcrumbs, and herbs—pan-fried to perfection and ideal as an appetizer, light meal, or Southern-style comfort dish.


Ingredients

  • 1 (14.75 oz) can salmon, drained and flaked
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning (or paprika and a pinch of cayenne)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flaked salmon, breadcrumbs, onion, bell pepper, mayonnaise, mustard, egg, seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form mixture into 6–8 patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry croquettes in batches for 3–4 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Drain on paper towels and serve warm with lemon wedges or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Use fresh cooked salmon instead of canned for a richer flavor.
  • Chill patties for 15 minutes before frying to help them hold together.
  • Serve with remoulade, tartar sauce, or a spicy aioli for added flavor.
