Scale
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
- Red food coloring
- Blue food coloring
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch bundt pan or two 8-inch round cake pans.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in vanilla extract.
- Alternately add dry ingredients and milk to the wet ingredients, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
- Divide batter into three equal parts. Tint one part red, one part blue, and leave the third part plain.
- Spoon dollops of each color into the prepared pan(s), alternating colors to create a marbled effect. Swirl lightly with a knife for a more blended marble effect.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Use gel food coloring for more vibrant colors without thinning the batter.
- Can be served with whipped cream or topped with a simple glaze.
- Make sure not to over-swirl to maintain the distinct colors.
