Description

A deliciously comforting dessert made with crescent roll dough, fresh apples, and a buttery cinnamon-sugar sauce, made famous by the Pioneer Woman.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 whole Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and cut into 8 slices each
  • 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 can (12 oz) Mountain Dew
  • Optional: vanilla ice cream, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. Wrap each apple slice in a crescent roll triangle and place in the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a saucepan, melt the butter and stir in the sugar and vanilla. Pour the mixture over the apple dumplings.
  5. Sprinkle with cinnamon.
  6. Pour the Mountain Dew around the edges of the pan and over the dumplings (avoid pouring directly on top).
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream if desired.

Notes

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for best results.
  • Mountain Dew adds sweetness and helps create a delicious syrup.
  • Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
