Ingredients
Scale
Wet Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
- 1/3 cup peach preserves or peach butter (plus more for serving)
Dry Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Pour the melted butter into an 8×8-inch baking dish, ensuring the bottom is completely coated to create a buttery base for the biscuits.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until evenly combined.
- Add Buttermilk: Pour in the buttermilk and stir just until the dough comes together. Avoid overmixing to keep the biscuits tender and fluffy.
- Incorporate Peach Preserves: Gently swirl the peach preserves into the dough using a spoon or knife, being careful not to fully blend the preserves, which creates beautiful peachy swirls in each biscuit.
- Drop Dough into Pan: Spoon large dollops of the biscuit dough directly into the melted butter in the baking dish. Use the back of a spoon to gently spread the dough evenly, allowing the butter to pool around the edges, which enhances the flavor and texture.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 20–25 minutes until the biscuits turn golden brown on top and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool and Serve: Let the biscuits cool slightly before slicing them into squares. Serve warm with additional peach preserves or butter for an indulgent treat.
Notes
- Feel free to substitute peach preserves with any fruit butter or jam of your choice.
- Using a metal baking dish will result in biscuits with crispier edges.
- These biscuits taste best when enjoyed warm on the day they are made.
