These festive Patriotic Chocolate Chip Cookies are soft, chewy, and loaded with red, white, and blue chocolate chips – perfect for celebrating the 4th of July or any patriotic occasion!

- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
- 1 cup red, white, and blue chocolate chips or candy-coated chocolate pieces
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until well combined.
- Add the vanilla, egg, and egg yolk to the butter mixture and mix until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until combined.
- Fold in the red, white, and blue chocolate chips.
- Scoop dough into tablespoon-sized balls and place on prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden but centers are still soft.
- Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For extra festive flair, press a few extra chocolate chips on top of each cookie before baking.
- Dough can be chilled for 30 minutes for thicker cookies.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
