Description

This Orange Cinnamon Iced Tea is a refreshing and flavorful summer beverage that combines the robust taste of black tea with the warmth of cinnamon and the zesty brightness of fresh orange slices. Sweetened with honey, it offers a perfect balance of citrus and spice, ideal for cooling down on hot days or serving at gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea Base

  • 8 cups water
  • 4 black tea bags or 4 tablespoons loose leaf black tea
  • 2 cinnamon sticks

Flavorings and Sweetener

  • 1 large orange, sliced
  • 1/4 cup honey (or more, to taste)

Serving

  • Ice cubes
  • Orange slices, for garnish (optional)
  • Cinnamon sticks, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Boil Water: In a large pot, bring 8 cups of water to a rolling boil over high heat to prepare the tea base.
  2. Add Tea and Spices: Remove the pot from heat. Add the black tea bags or loose leaf tea along with 2 cinnamon sticks. Submerge the tea bags fully to release the flavors.
  3. Infuse Tea: Cover the pot and steep the tea and cinnamon sticks for 5-7 minutes, with 6 minutes recommended for a balanced flavor extraction.
  4. Add Orange Slices: Add the sliced orange to the pot, pressing gently to release fresh citrus juices into the tea.
  5. Continue Infusing: Cover the pot again and allow the mixture to infuse for another 15-20 minutes. You may extend up to 30 minutes for a stronger orange and cinnamon flavor.
  6. Remove Tea Bags and Spices: Remove the tea bags and cinnamon sticks from the pot, squeezing the tea bags gently to extract all the liquid. Discard the tea bags and cinnamon sticks afterward.
  7. Strain Orange Slices: Pour the tea through a fine-mesh sieve or a cheesecloth-lined colander to remove orange slices and any solids. Discard the orange slices once strained.
  8. Add Honey: While the tea is still warm, stir in 1/4 cup of honey until fully dissolved. Adjust sweetness according to your preference by adding more honey if needed.
  9. Taste and Adjust: Taste the tea and add more honey if you desire a sweeter drink.
  10. Cool Tea: Let the tea cool to room temperature before serving.
  11. Refrigerate (Optional): For best flavor, refrigerate the tea for at least 2 hours or preferably overnight.
  12. Prepare Glasses: Fill serving glasses with ice cubes to keep the tea chilled and refreshing.
  13. Pour Iced Tea: Pour the chilled tea over the ice-filled glasses.
  14. Garnish (Optional): Garnish each glass with orange slices and cinnamon sticks for an attractive presentation.
  15. Serve: Serve immediately and enjoy the cool, aromatic Orange Cinnamon Iced Tea.

Notes

  • You can use either black tea bags or loose leaf black tea depending on availability.
  • Adjust the steeping time for a stronger or milder flavor profile.
  • Honey can be substituted with other sweeteners like agave syrup or sugar if preferred.
  • For a citrus twist, try adding a splash of fresh orange juice before serving.
  • This tea can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Make sure to strain well to remove any pulp or tea leaves for a smooth iced tea experience.
