Description

A quick and easy one-pot spaghetti recipe where pasta, sauce, and seasonings are cooked together for minimal cleanup and maximum flavor.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 (24-ounce) jar marinara sauce
  • 4 cups chicken broth or water
  • 12 ounces spaghetti
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Season the beef with salt, black pepper, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes.
  5. Stir in marinara sauce and chicken broth, bringing the mixture to a boil.
  6. Break spaghetti in half and add to the pot. Stir to submerge all the noodles in the liquid.
  7. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is cooked and liquid is mostly absorbed.
  8. Remove from heat and stir in Parmesan cheese if using. Let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or plant-based meat for a lighter or vegetarian option.
  • Adjust the amount of broth depending on the thickness of your sauce and the type of pasta.
  • For a creamier texture, stir in a splash of heavy cream or cream cheese at the end.
