Description

My Kitchen Love is a comforting homemade dish combining classic ingredients into a heartwarming meal that’s perfect for family dinners or special occasions.


Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 12 oz pasta (penne or fusilli), cooked
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Add ground beef or turkey, salt, pepper, and oregano. Cook until browned, breaking up meat with a spoon, about 6-8 minutes.
  5. Stir in diced tomatoes and tomato sauce. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. In a large bowl, combine the cooked pasta, meat sauce, and half of the Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses.
  7. Transfer to a greased baking dish. Top with remaining cheeses.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Can be made ahead and refrigerated before baking.
  • Use whole wheat or gluten-free pasta as desired.
  • Swap ground meat with lentils or plant-based meat for a vegetarian option.
