Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch cake pan or line with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add dry ingredients to the wet mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Top with sliced strawberries and gently press them into the batter.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool completely before topping with whipped cream.
