Description

Monte Cristo Sliders are a sweet and savory twist on the classic sandwich, made with layers of ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese on soft rolls, brushed with a buttery Dijon glaze, and dusted with powdered sugar.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 12 slider rolls (e.g., Hawaiian rolls)
  • 6 slices of deli ham
  • 6 slices of deli turkey
  • 6 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Cooking spray or butter for greasing baking dish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Without separating the rolls, slice them in half horizontally.
  3. Place the bottom half in the prepared dish.
  4. Spread Dijon mustard and mayonnaise over the bottom half of the rolls.
  5. Layer the ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese evenly over the rolls.
  6. Place the top half of the rolls over the layered meat and cheese.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter and honey, then brush over the tops of the rolls.
  8. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
  9. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the sliders, allowing it to soak in slightly.
  10. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 15 minutes.
  11. Remove foil and bake an additional 10 minutes, until golden and heated through.
  12. Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes.
  13. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Serve with raspberry preserves for dipping.
  • You can use any preferred deli meat or cheese variation.
