- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/3 cup tomato sauce or water
- 8 small taco shells or tortillas
- Toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa, avocado, cilantro
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat (if using). Add chopped onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened. Add garlic and sauté for 1 more minute.
- Add ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix well to coat the meat evenly with spices.
- Add tomato sauce or water to the skillet. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until mixture thickens slightly.
- Warm taco shells or tortillas according to package instructions.
- Fill each taco shell with the beef mixture and top with your favorite taco toppings.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!

- Use ground turkey or chicken as a leaner alternative.
- Make the beef mixture ahead of time for quick weeknight meals.
