Ingredients
Scale
Fries
- 1 bag (28 ounces) frozen French fries or 4 large russet potatoes (cut into fries)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (if baking fresh potatoes)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Toppings
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 1/4 cup pickled jalapeños (optional)
- 1/4 cup diced tomatoes (optional)
- Chopped fresh parsley or cilantro for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Fries: Cook the fries according to package directions if using frozen. For homemade fries, toss cut russet potatoes in olive oil, salt, and black pepper, then bake at 425°F (220°C) for 30–35 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crisp.
- Add Cheese and Bacon: Transfer the cooked fries to an oven-safe platter or baking sheet. Evenly sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese and crumbled cooked bacon over the fries.
- Melt the Cheese: Return the platter to the oven and bake for an additional 5–7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Add Toppings and Serve: Remove from the oven and top with dollops of sour cream, chopped green onions, pickled jalapeños, diced tomatoes, and garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro if desired. Serve immediately while hot.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, air fry the fries instead of baking.
- Drizzle with nacho cheese or ranch dressing for a delicious variation.
- Make vegetarian by omitting bacon or substituting with a plant-based bacon alternative.
- Check the gluten status of the fries brand if serving to gluten-sensitive guests.
