Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth (or vegetable broth)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon capers, drained
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
  4. Stir in the lemon juice, capers, lemon zest, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Simmer the sauce for 3–5 minutes, allowing it to reduce slightly.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in chopped parsley if using.
  7. Serve warm over salmon, chicken, or vegetables.

Notes

  • Use unsalted butter to better control the saltiness.
  • Vegetable broth can be used for a vegetarian version.
  • Adjust lemon juice and zest to taste for more or less tang.
  • The sauce can be made ahead and gently reheated.
