- 1/4 cup rolled oats (optional topping)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 425°F. Lightly flour a baking sheet or line with parchment paper.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Add Butter: Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: Stir in buttermilk and honey (if using) until dough forms.
- Knead and Shape: Turn dough onto a floured surface, knead gently, shape into a round loaf.
- Bake: Place on baking sheet, cut an “X” on top, sprinkle with oats. Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool and Serve: Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
