This creamy, homemade hummus is smooth, flavorful, and perfect as a dip or spread. Made with chickpeas, tahini, garlic, lemon juice, and olive oil, it’s a healthy and easy recipe that comes together in minutes.
Ingredients

1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed

1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 1 large lemon)

1/4 cup well-stirred tahini

1 small garlic clove, minced

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, plus more for serving

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

Salt to taste

2 to 3 tablespoons water

Dash of paprika, for garnish (optional)

Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions

In a food processor, combine tahini and lemon juice. Process for 1 minute until creamy.

Add the minced garlic, cumin, and a pinch of salt. Blend again.

Add the chickpeas and process until thick and smooth.

While processing, slowly drizzle in the olive oil and 2 tablespoons of water. Scrape the sides as needed.

Blend until you reach a creamy, smooth consistency. Add an extra tablespoon of water if too thick.

Taste and adjust salt, lemon, or garlic as needed.

Serve in a bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and garnish with paprika and parsley if desired.

For an even smoother texture, peel the chickpeas before blending.
