Description

Crispy and flavorful homemade taquitos filled with a savory mixture of meat and cheese, perfect for a quick snack or dinner.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken or beef
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 10 small corn tortillas
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix shredded chicken or beef, cheese, salsa, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Warm tortillas in the microwave for 20-30 seconds to make them pliable.
  3. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of filling onto each tortilla and roll tightly.
  4. Secure with a toothpick if necessary to prevent unrolling.
  5. Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
  6. Fry taquitos in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  7. Drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve hot with guacamole, sour cream, or salsa.

Notes

  • You can use leftover rotisserie chicken to save time.
  • Bake taquitos at 425°F for 15-20 minutes as a healthier alternative.
  • Add jalapeños or hot sauce for extra heat.
