Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp yellow mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 slices of sandwich bread
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tbsp butter, softened
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain excess fat.
- Add ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper. Stir well and simmer for 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Butter one side of each bread slice.
- Place a slice of bread butter-side down in a skillet over medium heat. Add 1/4 cup shredded cheese, a scoop of the sloppy joe mixture, and another 1/4 cup of cheese. Top with another slice of bread, butter-side up.
- Grill until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Repeat with remaining ingredients to make four sandwiches.
- Serve hot and enjoy.
Notes
- Use a mix of cheeses like mozzarella and cheddar for extra flavor.
- Can substitute ground turkey for a lighter option.
- Use thick-cut bread to hold the filling better.
