Description

A delicious fusion of two comfort food classics, Grilled Cheese Sloppy Joes combine cheesy grilled sandwiches with savory sloppy joe filling for the ultimate indulgent meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 slices of sandwich bread
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper. Stir well and simmer for 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat.
  3. Butter one side of each bread slice.
  4. Place a slice of bread butter-side down in a skillet over medium heat. Add 1/4 cup shredded cheese, a scoop of the sloppy joe mixture, and another 1/4 cup of cheese. Top with another slice of bread, butter-side up.
  5. Grill until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. Repeat with remaining ingredients to make four sandwiches.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy.
