- 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 1 small red onion, sliced
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- In a bowl, mix ground beef with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Form into 4 equal patties.
- Brush grill grates with vegetable oil to prevent sticking.
- Grill the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until cooked to desired doneness.
- During the last minute of grilling, add a slice of cheddar cheese to each patty and toast the buns on the grill.
- Remove patties and buns from the grill. Spread barbecue sauce on the bottom half of each bun.
- Top each with a grilled patty, onion slices, tomato, lettuce, and the top bun.
- Serve hot with extra barbecue sauce if desired.

- Use freshly ground beef for the juiciest burgers.
- Try different cheeses like pepper jack or Swiss for a twist.
- Grill with the lid closed to retain heat and add smoky flavor.
