Description

Fresno Poppers are a spicy, cheesy appetizer made with Fresno chili peppers stuffed with a creamy cheese filling and baked or grilled to perfection. Great for parties or game day snacks.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 12 Fresno chili peppers
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled (optional)
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray or olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) or heat a grill to medium heat.
  2. Slice Fresno peppers in half lengthwise and remove seeds and membranes.
  3. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, cheddar cheese, bacon (if using), green onions, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Spoon the cheese mixture into each pepper half.
  5. Place stuffed peppers on a baking sheet lined with foil or directly on the grill.
  6. Lightly spray with cooking spray or drizzle with olive oil.
  7. Bake for 15–20 minutes or grill for 10–15 minutes until peppers are tender and cheese is bubbly.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Wear gloves when handling hot peppers to avoid irritation.
  • For extra crispiness, top with breadcrumbs before baking.
  • Substitute Fresno peppers with jalapeños for a spicier version.
