Description

Fresh California Sushi Roll Bowls are a deconstructed version of the classic sushi roll, packed with crab, avocado, cucumber, and seasoned rice for a refreshing and easy meal.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup imitation crab meat, shredded
  • 1 avocado, diced
  • 1 cucumber, diced
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha (optional)
  • 2 sheets nori, cut into strips
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Pickled ginger, for serving
  • Soy sauce, for serving

Instructions

  1. Rinse sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Cook the rice with water in a rice cooker or on the stovetop according to package instructions.
  3. In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved, then gently fold into the cooked rice.
  4. In another bowl, mix shredded crab meat with mayonnaise and sriracha if using.
  5. Prepare avocado and cucumber by dicing them into bite-sized pieces.
  6. Assemble bowls by layering seasoned rice, crab mixture, avocado, cucumber, nori strips, sesame seeds, and green onions.
  7. Serve with pickled ginger and soy sauce on the side.

Notes

  • Use real crab meat for a more authentic taste if preferred.
  • Add other toppings like edamame, carrots, or radish for variety.
  • Adjust sriracha to your desired spice level.
