Ingredients
Scale
Dough
- 1 package Refrigerated Pizza Dough (or homemade pizza dough)
Filling
- 8 whole Eggs (or egg whites for a lighter option)
- 1 cup Diced Ham (or turkey/chicken for a leaner alternative)
- 1 cup Shredded Allegro Cheese (or any melting cheese like cheddar or mozzarella)
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
Boiling & Topping
- 1 tablespoon Honey (optional, added to boiling water for extra rise and flavor)
- Bagel Seasoning (to taste; mix of poppy seeds, sesame seeds, garlic powder)
Instructions
- Prepare Dough: Thaw the refrigerated pizza dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let rise for 20 minutes to get a fluffy texture.
- Cook Eggs: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper. Scramble them gently in a pan over medium heat until fluffy. Set aside to cool slightly.
- Boil Water: Fill a large pot with water, bring it to a boil, and add a tablespoon of honey to enhance the rise and flavor during boiling.
- Fill and Seal Dough: Flatten each dough ball into a circle. Spoon scrambled eggs, diced ham, and shredded cheese into the center. Carefully seal the edges, making sure the filling is enclosed completely.
- Boil Bagel Bombs: Drop each filled bagel bomb into the boiling water for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Remove them with a slotted spoon and let drain to remove excess water.
- Bake: Place the boiled bagel bombs on a lined baking sheet. Sprinkle with bagel seasoning. Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool and Freeze: Allow the bagel bombs to cool completely. Wrap each individually in plastic wrap or place them in a freezer-safe bag for storage in the freezer.
Notes
- For a lighter option, substitute whole eggs with egg whites.
- Try different types of cheese like cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite melting cheese.
- You can swap ham with turkey or chicken for a leaner protein.
- The honey in the boiling water helps create a nice crust and adds a subtle sweetness.
- These bagel bombs can be frozen for up to 3 months and reheated in an oven or microwave.
- Make sure to fully seal the dough edges to prevent filling from leaking during boiling.
