Description

Easy Apple Turnovers are flaky, golden pastries filled with a sweet apple-cinnamon filling. Perfect for breakfast or dessert, these turnovers are quick to prepare and deliciously satisfying.


Ingredients

  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix diced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and flour. Set aside.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry sheets and cut each into 4 squares.
  4. Spoon a portion of the apple mixture onto the center of each square.
  5. Fold the pastry over to form a triangle and press the edges to seal with a fork.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk the egg and water to make an egg wash. Brush over the tops of the turnovers.
  7. Place turnovers on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 18–22 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for best results.
  • Turnovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • Reheat in the oven for a crisp texture.
