Description

A flavorful dry rub perfect for seasoning ribs before cooking them in the oven. This blend brings out a smoky, savory, and slightly sweet flavor without the need for a grill.


Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
  • 1 tsp mustard powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine all the spices and mix thoroughly.
  2. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels to ensure the rub adheres well.
  3. Generously coat the ribs with the dry rub on all sides, pressing it into the meat.
  4. Wrap the ribs in plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, to let the flavors penetrate.
  5. When ready to cook, preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  6. Place the ribs on a baking sheet lined with foil and cover tightly with another piece of foil.
  7. Bake in the oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the ribs are tender.
  8. Optionally, remove the top foil, brush with BBQ sauce, and broil for 5 minutes to caramelize.
  9. Let the ribs rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Adjust cayenne pepper to control the heat level.
  • This rub can be stored in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
  • Works well with pork or beef ribs.
