A fun and delicious no-bake dessert made from scratch with layers of homemade chocolate pudding, whipped topping, and crushed chocolate cookies, perfect for kids and parties.

- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 4 cups whole milk
- 4 large egg yolks
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 30 chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos), crushed
- Gummy worms, for decoration (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt.
- Gradually whisk in milk and egg yolks until smooth.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a gentle boil, about 8–10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract. Let cool slightly, then refrigerate until fully chilled, about 2 hours.
- In a large bowl, beat heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form to make whipped cream.
- Fold whipped cream into the chilled chocolate pudding until well combined.
- In a large serving dish or individual cups, layer the pudding mixture and crushed cookies, starting and ending with cookies.
- Top with more cookie crumbs and decorate with gummy worms if desired.
- Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.
Notes
- Make sure pudding is fully chilled before folding in whipped cream.
- Use a food processor for finely crushed cookies.
- Can be made a day ahead for convenience.
