Description

A fun and delicious no-bake dessert made from scratch with layers of homemade chocolate pudding, whipped topping, and crushed chocolate cookies, perfect for kids and parties.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 30 chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos), crushed
  • Gummy worms, for decoration (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt.
  2. Gradually whisk in milk and egg yolks until smooth.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a gentle boil, about 8–10 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract. Let cool slightly, then refrigerate until fully chilled, about 2 hours.
  5. In a large bowl, beat heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form to make whipped cream.
  6. Fold whipped cream into the chilled chocolate pudding until well combined.
  7. In a large serving dish or individual cups, layer the pudding mixture and crushed cookies, starting and ending with cookies.
  8. Top with more cookie crumbs and decorate with gummy worms if desired.
  9. Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

  • Make sure pudding is fully chilled before folding in whipped cream.
  • Use a food processor for finely crushed cookies.
  • Can be made a day ahead for convenience.
